240 Practice Test Questions for the Safety Fundamental Exam

NOW Available

Covering the latest BCSP test specification.

According to the BCSP, a safety professional is one who applies the expertise gained from a study of safety science, principles, practices, and other subjects and from professional safety experience to create or develop procedures, processes, standards, specifications, and systems to achieve optimal control or reduction of the hazards and exposures that may harm people, property, or the environment. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a safety professional who has met and continues to meet all requirements established by BCSP and is authorized by BCSP to use the Certified Safety Professional title and the CSP credential.

There are two examinations leading to the CSP credential, which are the Safety Fundamentals exam and the Comprehensive Practice exam. They both consist of 200 multiple-choice items with four possible answers, with only one correct answer on each question. Candidates will have five hours to complete the Safety Fundamentals examination and five and one-half hours to complete the Comprehensive Practice examination. Exams are delivered via computer-based testing, with results immediately available right after answers submission.

The BCSP has defined a comprehensive BOK with the same domains, responsibilities, knowledge, and skills applied to both exams. They differ somewhat in the portion of items applicable to each domain. Also, the Safety Fundamentals examination aims at measuring basic knowledge while the Comprehensive Practice examination aims at testing the application of experience gained through professional safety practice. The knowledge domains are:

Domain 1 Safety, Health, and Environmental Management
Domain 2 Safety, Health, and Environmental Engineering
Domain 3 Safety, Health, and Environmental Information Management and Communications
Domain 4 Professional Conduct and Ethics

The Safety Fundamentals exam is comprehensive. One has to go through a lot of readings for learning the various exam topics. However, most readings do not come with any practice questions as they were never intended for exam prep use right from the beginning.

Intensive practice and review can focus your attention to your weak areas. This is where we fill the gap - you may think of our ExamREADINESS Testprep product as the unofficial supplement to the various exam readings, or you may view it as a standalone module with a focus on building up your exam readiness, THROUGH 240 UNIQUE PRACTICE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.

To help you focus on the relevant exam contents, we develop this special CSP ExamREADINESS practice module to accompany your reading efforts. The module comes with practice review questions in the form of MC, with answers and direct references to the sources so you may look up the relevant topics for further drilling.

A number of major texts were referenced for creating the practice questions, including:

Occupational Health and Safety Management: A Practical Approach, by Charles D Reese (2003)
Statistical Tools for Safety Management, by Henry A Walters (1995)
Human Error Reduction and Safety Management 3rd, by Dan Petersen (1996)
Safety And The Security Professional: Occupational Safety and Health Strategies, by J Robert Wyman (2000)
Environmental and Health Safety Management: A Guide to Compliance, by Nicholas P Cheremisinoff and Madelyn L Graffia (1995)
Industrial Safety Management: A Practical Approach, by Jack E Daugherty (1999)

HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT

The goal of the practice module is NOT to test your memorization skill. We are not providing you with "real questions" for memorization and cheating. We are giving you practice questions for assessing your knowledge on the different (and difficult) exam topics.

One frequent question encountered when studying for a major exam like this one is whether you have read enough. It is an unfortunate fact that no single text on earth would be sufficient for guaranteed passing with a margin. The more you read, the more you are prepared.

The thing is, with limited time and energy, you just can’t read everything. You need to be selective in choosing what to read and what to focus on. If you place the wrong focus, you risk failing the exam.

We develop this review questions module by performing extensive research on a wide array of reference texts. The goal is to provide coverage that is as completed and comprehensive as possible.  If you fail to answer a question, the module will point you to the right source so you may research into the topic accordingly. By going through this process you will know whether you have done enough reading or not, and where you should put further efforts on.

Think the real exam is tough? Wait until you see this CSP Safety Fundamentals ExamREADINESS module. The ExamREADINESS Safety Fundamentals questions are designed to drill you through the relevant contents topic by topic. They are well-written, technically accurate and completely representative of the kind of challenge you are about to face when preparing for the Safety Fundamentals exam. If you can handle the ExamREADINESS questions, you will have no problem with the real exam.
