CPM All-in-one Integrated Study Guide 2009 Edition and 120 Review Questions


The titles of Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) and Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.) are professional certifications of The Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

The Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation is globally the most recognized designation for supply management professionals. The program is designed for experienced supply managers, and focuses on managerial and leadership skills, plus a variety of specialized functions designed to enhance the value of the profession. The Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) designation is specifically designed for entry-level supply management professionals, or those primarily engaged in the operational side of the supply function.

The CPM program consists of four multiple-choices exam modules:

  • Module 1: Purchasing Process (identical to APP Module 1)
  • Module 2: Supply Environment (identical to APP Module 2)
  • Module 3: Value Enhancements Strategies
  • Module 4: Management

The APP program consists of two multiple-choices exam modules:

  • Module 1: Purchasing Process (identical to CPM Module 1)
  • Module 2: Supply Environment (identical to CPM Module 2)

You are free to take all four CPM exams in any order. However, you may earn the CPM designation only if you have a full time position in purchasing for several years as required by ISM. If you do not have the job experience required, consider going for APP instead (APP requires the completion of only the first two exams).
