According to the ISC2, a
CISSP as an information assurance professional needs to define the
architecture, design, management and/or controls that assure the security
of business environments. It is a credential that demonstrates a globally
recognized standard of competence which covers critical topics in security

There is a revision to the BOK knowledge domains which becomes effective
in January 2012. You need to know the basics of new IT technologies but
you also need to know the older technologies since many old stuff are
