CABM 2007/08 Edition Study Guide


According to the APBM, the CABM Exam is suited to individuals before starting an MBA program. It focuses on the Basic Business Principles.

The entry level CABM certification provides a solid foundation for individuals seeking an MBA degree. It is awarded to individuals who meet the official eligibility requirements and pass the 4-hour, 200 multiple-choice questions single part exam.

The CABM Exam has 10 knowledge modules:

Module 100 General Management and Organization (15%)
Module 200 Operations Management (10%)
Module 300 Marketing Management (10%)
Module 400 Quality and Process Management (10%)
Module 500 Human Resources Management (10%)
Module 600 Accounting (10%)
Module 700 Finance (10%)
Module 800 Information Technology (10%)
Module 900 Corporate Control and Governance (10%)
Module 1000 International Business (5%)

Information and terminology from these 10 modules serve as basis for the CABM exam. This exam has some questions that ask for your "best decisions" - they require that you pick the best possible options (after all this is the kind of capability expected out of a practical business manager on a day-to-day basis). These best options are often based on practical experience and best practices not easily found in the standard exam text books.

There are also plenty of questions on concepts, principles and theories. They mostly ask for the correct definitions and/or description of terms, just like what you see in most academic oriented business management programs.
